I'm enrolled in my online humanities class...

it's not quite as hard as I thought it would be. There's a link in my sidebar if you're interested.

Scary incident last night. We have these stupid glass doors on our shower/tub. I was getting C.J. ready for a bath, but she said the water was too hot, so I told her to step back for a minute and I'd add some cooler water. I reached for the faucet, pushing aside one of the doors about an inch with my shoulder, and the door exploded! It literally shattered into thousands of little chunks of glass, flying everywhere. C.J. started screaming, M was yelling "what was that", C.O. started screaming because he was so afraid... it was just about the most frightening 30 seconds of my life. Thankfully, neither C.J. nor I were really hurt, just a few cuts here and there. C.J. did throw up a lot from the fear, but then we got her calmed down. She ended up sleeping in my bed because she had a couple of nightmares about the glass.

We're having the apartment maintenance guys do all the removal and clean-up today. M is going to ask them to remove the other glass door and let us use shower curtains for the remainder of out tenancy.

M's birthday went well...

but then we didn't do much. He did eat half a cheesecake with blueberries! And he did laugh at the candle - I got him one of those "Over the Hill" tombstone candles that plays the Death March. It's his fault for telling me he's old all the time. The kids made him some great birthday cards while they were at my mom's house, lots of glitter and stickers. I think homemade cards are better than store-bought ones any day!

M is now helping his brother move, yesterday evening and tonight, so I'm getting some alone time with my elflings. Last night we had a picnic dinner on the back patio, and played catch for a while before bedtime. I think tonight we might watch a movie together.

Finally got up off my butt....

and went for a run/jog/walk this morning. I'm thinking of starting a second blog to track my journey towards actual fitness. Anyway, it was gorgeous out!

Today is my dear husband's birthday! He is 38. We don't have anything special planned really, just a nice dinner, maybe some cheesecake with blueberries (his absolute favorite) afterwards. We already got (M & I) 3 new bonsai starters on Sunday, so we're not worrying about presents. C.O. really wants to get him something, but I told him we'll do that on the weekend when I have more time.

Picked out my fall classes yesterday... one art class, an English class, and a biology lecture series. 7 units, not too many, so I can get back into the flow of things. I'm actually really looking forward to it. I also signed up for a 2 1/2 week landscape painting class later this summer, if I can squeeze it in.

I just got offered

my dream job. Seriously! Part-time (16-20 hours a week), totally flexible hours, good pay... working for the American Heart Association! I get to start in my official capacity as soon as all the background check stuff is done. This is too cool - I didn't even have to apply. Sometimes being a temp pays off! I'll be the Administrative Assistant to the Corporate Events Director. This means that in the fall, I'll be able to drop C.O. off at school, pick him up, do the same for C.J. with preschool, and actually take 2-3 classes two afternoons a week! I will eventually earn my degree.

On top of that, M finally got a call from a school district, which has placed him in their top 15 candidates for a custodian position, which pays really well. He'll interview the week after next.

Things are finally falling into place!

I am just not good at keeping up with this...

I almost never post anymore. Oh well, I'm far from perfect, and usually just too busy. However, at the moment, I am on break, sitting at the front desk, at the American Heart Association, where I am a temp for the moment. So, I thought I'd update a bit....

Work - I passed the county exams with flying colors. Now I'm on the waiting list for an open position. I'm also applying for jobs at the SRJC like crazy, and am looking at a really cool part-time job with the Sonoma Land Trust. Keep your fingers crossed for me - if I have to work, which I do, I'd at least like to work for a business that is beneficial, and it has to be part-time, not full time, since I'd go crazy being away from my elflings that much. M is trying to get a position for the local school district as a custodian. He likes self-supervised work and it pays well.

School - I'm taking an online class starting next week, Interdisciplinary Studies on Cultures of Latin America & the Caribbean. Now I'm looking at all the classes available in the fall. M is looking at taking a couple of classes that will lead him in the general direction of crime scene investigation.

Kids- C.O. is FIVE now, which is just crazy. We took him to a train museum for his birthday, which was totally fun, because he got to ride trains too. He said it was the best birthday ever! He's really looking forward to kindergarten in the fall, which is good because I am still suffering from moral dilemmas regarding school versus homeschool. What's nice about his school is that I go with him for the first day, and apparently there'll only be 18 or 19 kids in his class. He still loves cars, trains, airplanes, and now robots and rockets. He's really interested in the science of things now, so I spend a lot of time looking things up in the encyclopedia for him. My mom does preschool activities with him while I'm at work, and he's starting on reading 2 and 3 letter words.
C.J. has suddenly shot up. She wore size 18 month for the longest time, and now she's right where she should be. I'm having a hard time getting used to a tall (for her age), lanky daughter. She wants very badly to go to school like her brother, and I think, if we try, we can squeeze out the money for 2 mornings a week at the preschool her grandma (M's mom) teaches at. She still loves singing and dancing, and learned to throw baseballs last week (she's got a great arm).

Apartment - well, if we could find someplace to put the still-packed boxes, we'd be good. Okay, I admit, I own waaaayyy too many books. But, M owns too much stuff. So there.

Marriage - After nearly 11 years, we still have to work hard at this one. We've been arguing a lot lately, over all the stupidest little things. I think it's job stress primarily, plus both of us are at somewhat of a changing point in our lives, what with going back to school and all. I don't know what to make of it. Hope it's just a phase!

Other than all that, not much is new.
