Possibly changing...

The kids, after listening to all of the Chronicles of Narnia on audio cd (well, we're not quite finished with The Last Battle) have decided to change the name of our homeschool to Experiment House, after the school in The Silver Chair. The school starts out badly in the book, with bullies, and little education, but in the end it changes: "And from that day forth things changed for the better at Experiment House, and it became quite a good school."

And so, Experiment House it is! However, M thinks it sounds like some horror sci-fi movie thing, so I still have OakLeaf School in mind too.... I also have a sentimental attachment to OakLeaf as it is the name Elf chose at the age of 5 when we decided to homeschool. Hmmmmm.....
What do you all think?

  2. Pretty cool name! We looooove the Narnia radio plays from Focus on the Family Radio Theater. They did a great job with them.

  3. I think I like Oakleaf better. It is cozier and has a sweet origin! Of course, being Old Oak School, perhaps I am a bit biased! Could you somehow combine the names as we have? My oldest and I chose "Monkey Island Academy" together long ago because we don't like to take anything in life too seriously. Then when middle son was old enough to express an opinion, he was mortified to attend a school with such a flippant name. So...he came up with the more dignified "Old Oak School". I think the names work well together to express the true nature of homeschooling...you never know from day to day if you'll be teaching a room full of wild animals, or wise little scholars!

Or, could you use Experiment House ala Harry Potter and have it be sort of a sub-group of Oakleaf School? Like Gryffindor and Slytherin Houses both belonged to Hogwarts?

Am I taking this too seriously? Oh well! Have fun with it!
